We were told by an NGO official, that we should wait on the tents for at least 10 days - reason being - the government has announced to shift people to school buildings and mosques in dry areas. So tents are to be on hold. We however continue to receive urgent requests for flour, rice, daal (lentils), biscuits, dates, sugar, cooking oil, water, clothes, shoes, etc. Mostly food items.
We have arranged for 5000 kg of flour packed in 5 kg bags each, 1000 bags of flour total. 1 bag per family. 10 kg of flour costs about 360 Rs. ($4-$5), but we are getting it for 280 Rs. ($3) from a friend who owns a flour mill. We will receive this order by Thursday evening, packed in plastic bags.
With the remaining money we will buy dates and drinking water. Receipts for all purchases will be scanned and posted.
